Arcade Game Development Level 1 (4-Session Express)
Children Use Block-based Programming Languages to Learn the Basics of Coding and Design Their Own Games
Don't Just Play Games...
Make them!
This beginner-friendly course introduces students to the world of coding through the exciting process of creating their own arcade-style games. In a fun and supportive environment, students explore how block-based programming can turn their ideas into interactive experiences and learn how to control characters, design game environments, and bring their creations to life step by step.
Throughout the course, students take on hands-on projects that combine game design, storytelling, and computational thinking. They might create a character that moves across the screen, design a game with scoring and levels, or build interactive challenges that respond to player input. As they develop their games, students learn essential programming concepts such as sequences, loops, events, and conditionals. These foundational skills help them understand how code works behind the scenes and how they can use it to build engaging and functional digital experiences.
By the end of the course, students will have created their own playable games while developing a strong foundation in coding and design thinking. They leave with increased confidence in using technology, a deeper understanding of how games are built, and the skills needed to continue exploring more advanced programming and creative projects.
